"What makes greatness is starting something that lives after you."
I have had the great privilege of knowing Rae Schaper for 5 years. She was a
professor in the special education department at Presbyterian College while
I was a student. I was fortunate enough to be under her teaching for my
years at PC and grew in my love of preschool children with special needs
through her inspiration to me. She is very knowledgeable in this field of
study and has spent many days and hours to create an effective curriculum
for preschool special education teachers. She has truly started "something
that lives after her". The students at Presbyterian College have been
inspired by her dedication, as well as many early childhood educators. I am
eternally grateful for what she has given me!

Rae,
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain your program to us. The
teachers were very excited about it! We truly appreciate your time.
We will be placing our order today or Monday. Our problem is that we hare
having a hard time narrowing down the selection! You have a wonderful
product and we are looking forward to implementing it this year.
Thank you!

Dear Rae,
What a treat to come home on Tuesday and the Brown Bear book to be here. It
is wonderful. I have already looked through it several times. I told several
teachers about the new Brown Bear book and they were not familiar with your
product. I then shared how wonderful the books were, and so complete.
Several commented they would love to use some end of the year money to order
several books. Hopefully you will receive several more orders from these
teachers.
Again, thanks for your prompt service. I am sure the Brown Bear unit will be
one of your top sellers.
Sincerely,
Martha Berry

We are looking at buying all of the remaining units we have not yet gotten.
We got about 8 last year. We are submitting a grant for some more. We use
them for our special needs preschool and special needs kindergarten,
speech/language classes and other special ed. classes. They are great!!!!!!

My PKVE classes just finished a month of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I
usually do a book a week, but we loved, loved, LOVED the book for a month.
You put almost everything in the world in the units. It was probably the
best curriculum I have used in my 20+ years of teaching. You are wonderful.
Thanks,

My name is Erica Rowles. I am a preschool teacher for children with Autism.
I just wanted to let you know how wonderful I think your curriculum is. I
always had a difficult time getting the children to listen and love story
time. Now it is the FAVORITE time of day. The children love the visuals and
sequencing cards. Once they are familiar with the book we read, they ask for
it over and over again. They want to come and work on the worksheets because
they love the books. I am so excited to fine something that integrates all
areas of development in a cohesive integrative manner. It has increased the
speech of many of the children. (I thank the nursery rhymes and repetitive
activities for that). I have been so thrilled with the progress the children
have made since we began using the curriculum in December. The school that I
work for has agreed to purchase all the binders for me because they too are
excited about them. The families love receiving the packets indicating their
child’s progress at the end of each unit. This has been such a fantastic
tool, that I can’t thank you enough for creating it!

Rae,
Just wanted to say hi. Don't know if you remember me from PC, but I
graduated in 2001...have since gotten married, but my maiden name was
Caroline Dunbar. I have moved from teaching TMD in Richland 2 to preschool
special ed at Anna Boyd (I took Jenn Jordan's old class) and just wanted to
tell you how much I have enjoyed doing the units. We are finishing up
Jamberry and my kids have loved the units. They love sequencing the story
cards as we read the books and they have fun with the other activities from
the units. They have now memorized Hot Cross Buns and they are always asking
if they can say it. Just wanted to let you know how much of a success the
units are and how much they help in planning so that we don't have to
"re-invent the wheel".
Thanks!

Rae, Just when I was eagerly awaiting the beginning of summer vacation, you
have made me wish I had more time this year to delve into the new units. You
have made excellent choices! I can't believe that I was ever convinced that
I needed to change themes every week, when it is so easy to add to your
existing units. For example, we are doing Jump, Frog, Jump now and it is
simple to add other pond animals in our centers. The children are so excited
and motivated! They look forward to Pack It Day more than Christmas. You are
an inspiration to us all. It is wonderful to watch terrific new ideas in
education grow and prosper. If there is any way in which I can contribute
during summer break, please contact me. Best wishes,

Dear Ms. Schaper,
My children are really enjoying The Mitten, the repetition has really helped
them out. I have shared my units with a few other teachers and they have
been really impressed. (The didn’t think they could spend an extended amount
of time on one book) I was wondering if you could maybe suggest some areas
that Kindergarten children could work on. I have a class with 8 Pre-K
children (ages 3-5) and 4 Kindergarten children (6-7). My main focus is
socialization, but I have a few children that could benefit from a little
more challenging academics.
The children love to help me read the book each day and we use the story
cards a lot!!! (great visuals for children using sign language- we are still
trying to find sign for all of the animals) Thanks so much for all of your
help!!!

Dear Rae Lea,
I wanted to let you know how much we enjoy your curriculum units. It makes
organization easy for me, but most of all the children are learning!!
I wonder if you can help just a little bit more? I am looking to change my
class from a full day to a morning and afternoon session. If you know of
other teachers who schedule their day this way, would you please pass this
message along to them? I am interested in how their day is scheduled.
Thanks in advance and thanks for your fantastic curriculum units!!

Rae,
I enjoyed your unit on Corduroy immensely. As a culmination for the
unit, I took my students to Build-A-Bear to create their own Corduroy.
I sewed little green corduroy overalls for all of their bears to make
them look even more like Corduroy. We really had a ball! The students
are still talking about all the things we did during the trip. They
especially enjoyed riding the escalator in Belk's and the Carousel in
the food court. We will definitely do Corduroy as a unit again!

There are 3 of us PCD teachers with your curriculum and 2 K-4 teachers
with your curriculum. You are very popular here at Anderson Mill! We
absolutely love your curriculum. It is so wonderful to be able to open
a book and find all of these wonderful activities right at our
fingertips. All five of us get together and plan our lesson plans for
the month together. Next year, we are adding another PCD teacher.

Hi! I hope you're having a great day and a Happy New Year. I am one of the
many teachers that loves using your curriculum. Your notebooks are all
wonderful. This is my second year using them and I can't be more pleased.
Thank you for your great hands-on activities and ideas.
Keep 'em com'in!:)

I just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed using these materials.
Our school system ordered the first ones that I used but I didn't want to
wait on available money to get this one to use in January. I am using the
units in a preschool language delayed classroom and it is wonderful. Thank
you.

Thank you so much, we really have enjoyed the little old lady who wasn't
afraid of anything - we did 6 "performances" today - they were precious.
Thank you

Dear Rae,
My class is having sooo……much fun with “The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t
Afraid Of Anything”!!!! We started reading it and doing little activities
from it the Monday I got back from the CEC Convention. Tomorrow we will do
the story for our speech and language therapist.
I enjoyed your session and will be in touch about getting other books in the
future.
Sincerely,
Karen Woods
Rae,
I love the units! Focusing on one a month has really helped my
children. I have to work with them individually because group time is
not practical for their super short attention span. They are low.
I have used Is Your Mama a Llama and am now on Goodnight Moon. Next
will be The Three Bears. I am working on a requisition from our
district to purchase several more.
Thanks for your interest. Keep up the good work. I would be willing
to be an advocate for your books if you need any references.
